The Guyana Amazon Warriors moved into 2nd place in the 2015 Hero Caribbean Premier League table with a thrilling victory over the St Lucia Zouks on their home ground at Providence.

They were indebted to a stunning performance with the ball from Sunil Narine (3-6), and though their batsmen wobbled enormously, they managed to chase down the Zouks' 111-7 with 12 balls and 3 wickets to spare.

The Warriors finally got chance to play their first game on home turf after Wednesday's match with the Jamaica Tallawahs was washed out, with Denesh Ramdin winning the toss and putting the Zouks into bat.

Openers Andre Fletcher and Johnson Charles put on 24 before the latter was bowled by David Wiese, and though Kevin Pietersen (24 off 21) and Fletcher moved the score on to 49-1, Narine turned the game upside down when he came on.

He bamboozled Fletcher and then got Delorn Johnson next ball, taking care of Pietersen in his next over as the Zouks struggled to score a run off his sorcery.

He ended with 3-6 off 4 overs, supported ably by Wiese (2-25) and fellow spinners Veerasammy Permaul and Devendra Bishoo, who both kept it tight and kept the Zouks down to 111-7 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Lendl Simmons smashed a few fours to get the Warriors off to a flier, and even though Assad Fudadin went for 5, Simmons continued on his merry way, joined by Ramdin, who seemed equally keen to get on with it.

Simmons holed out for 31 and Brad Hodge followed, both snaffled by the hugely impressive Keron Cottoy (4-18), and when he trapped Umar Akmal LBW for 7 despite the Pakistan star seeming to get a big inside edge on the ball, the Warriors were wobbling.

Cottoy got Christopher Barnwell too, and then in the same over Wiese needlessly ran himself out. When a mix-up with Ramdin led Narine to be run out for 1 in the next over, suddenly the Warriors were 87-7, having been 59-1, and teetering on the brink.

But Ramdin managed to hold his nerve, and the Warriors captain struck two fours off a surprise Fletcher over to get the crowd going again, the skipper finishing on 39 not out as Permaul launched Fidel Edwards into the crowd for six to complete the victory and send the home fans into raptures.
