A quick left-arm seamer with a penchant for performing in the big stage, Wahab Riaz impressed by picking a five wicket-haul in the semi-final of the 2011 World Cup against arch-rivals Pakistan. In the following edition of the World Cup in 2015, he plagued the Australian cricketers bowling a fiery spell dominated by quick bouncers. His test debut would also rank close to these two World Cup memories. He debuted against England in 2011, picking a five-wicket haul, in-effect becoming one of nine Pakistani cricketers to pick a five-wicket haul on debut. Sadly, he was ruled out of this year’s Champions Trophy after he suffered an injury during Pakistan’s first game against India. This CPL 2017, Riaz will join his Pakistani team-mate Shoaib Malik in the Tridents’ squad.
