The Welsh-born all-rounder started to wanting to be a fast-bowler like Wasim Akram, but he turned out to be a left-arm spinner who is renowned for his accuracy. A champion at the Under-19 level, Imad lifted the 2006 World Cup for Pakistan as their captain. Later in his career he got into the Pakistan line-up as a bowling all-rounder, and turned out to be an important member of the 2016 WT20. He made his debut in CPL 2016 for Jamaica Tallawahs winning the Championship in his first year. Amongst players who had played over 10 games in CPL 2016, he had the second best economy of 5.6, second only to West Indies mystery bowler Sunil Narine. Early this year, he returned to England, where he honed his skills participating in league cricket early in his career. Imad Wasim played every game for Pakistan in the 2017 Champions Trophy, all the way till the final, in which they beat arch-rivals India.
